Fifth-gear noise and clunk from H-D 6-speed trans

Post by webuser »

My 2007 Big Twin makes a lot of noise in fifth gear, and it "clunks" really loud when I put it into gear. The dealer says that's normal. Have you got anything to fix that?

Absolutely! But sit down, because it's going to cost you...about twelve bucks. Yes, you heard it right. There's a wonderful fix for the fifth-gear noise that also greatly reduces the clunk that the Harley 6-speed transmission makes, and it costs less than twelve dollars. It's a bottle of Bel-Ray Big Twin Transmission oil, applied directly to the offending transmission, and the effects are almost miraculous. One customer called the day after we changed his trans fluid, demanding to know what we "really" did to his transmission, because he couldn't believe that a bottle of fluid could make things so much better.

Got noise? Get Bel-Ray. It really, really works.
