Michellin Commander II Tires

https://bikesbuiltbetter.com/images/Michelin-Commander-II.jpg Anybody who has visited our shop and asked about tires knows that I'm passionate (okay, borderline rabid) about my tire preferences. I have been riding Metzeler ME880's for almost twenty years and logged over 100,000 miles on them in all...

Icon Variant Helmet Review

https://bikesbuiltbetter.com/images/variant.jpg I purchased a new Icon Variant helmet for my personal use last week. Check out photos of this helmet if you haven't seen one before; they are very interesting. The Variant looks a lot like a dirt helmet, but it has a bubble-ish face shield all full fa...

Re: Motorcycle Winterizing Tips

It's not a bad idea to take the battery out of the bike and keep it in a warm place if you don't have electricity where you park the motorcycle . But you should still keep the battery on a Battery Tender! Motorcycle batteries will discharge over time even if they're not in the motorcycle, and they ...

Re: Ape Bars fit on a 2008 FLSTSB Cross Bones

Sorry, John, but the 40-5156 14" black 1-1/4" apes will not fit on a 2008 Crossbones. The Crossbones has a springer fork, and the risers are farther apart than they would be on a bike with telescopic forks. That wouldn't be a problem on a 1" handlebar; (though you would see some of th...

Re: Fifth-gear noise and clunk from H-D 6-speed trans

Absolutely! But sit down, because it's going to cost you...about twelve bucks. Yes, you heard it right. There's a wonderful fix for the fifth-gear noise that also greatly reduces the clunk that the Harley 6-speed transmission makes, and it costs less than twelve dollars. It's a bottle of Bel-Ray Big...

Re: FatBoy Luggage Rack For Solo Seat

I'd recommend the Motherwell chrome luggage rack part number DS-720272. It's 11" long, 6" wide and designed to bolt on in place of the stock pillion pad. Very nice piece. Measure the length between the two seat bolts & check against that 11" length; not totally sure it will work w...

Re: 1995 FXDWG WideGlide Ape Hangers

Every brand of handlebars measures their "rise" differently (and some of them use some pretty funny rulers, I'll tell ya.) That's why the only good way to figure cable length is to buy a set of handlebars, install them on the bike, and then measure the length of the cables and brake lines ...

Re: 2007 FXDSE CROSS-BACK 2-INTO-2 EXHAUST

1. Yes you can still check the oil.
2. Depends on how big your air cleaner cover is. The air filter itself should not be a problem.
3. Varies a lot depending on what type of EFI tuning you install along with the exhaust. Probably anything from zero to about 15hp.

Re: 2008 FL MUFFLER M-OVAL SLIP ON

Wiring harness: you unplug your computer under the seat, and plug in the power Commander. The instructions give you a photo of the connectors to look for. If this is your first venture into electronics you might want to get help from someone who's done this before. I don't think you could screw thi...

Re: 2008 FL MUFFLER M-OVAL SLIP ON

Glad to know the installation went well. We usually install a Power Commander (EFI controller) when our customers change pipes or mufflers. A Power Commander plugs right into your stock wiring harness, makes NO permanent changes to your computer, and we'll load the correct map for your bike so you s...
